Line Walker

Another cop movie right after Shades of Life. It's kinda boring that tvb is airing another cop series.Perhaps there isn't enough justice in Hong Kong or they feel suppressed. After watching the first episode, I think I can make a rough prediction about what's going to happen. TVB is not known for it unpredictable and the shows name implies the fine line between good and bad..

It's a bit sad that it's again about criminal band and undercover cop. This concept has been shown for decades, it's kinda boring. TVB when are you making new, thrilling and exciting series. I mean sure I watch the series because it's just one broadcast company that films in Cantonese otherwise you would have been scrapped off my list. In my eyes TVB is a line walker!

Witches of East End

This episode has been a nice transition from a story full of death to more explanation or mor relevations about things that happens. The things that happend before are going to explain itselfs. New characters are introduced and relationships between them explained. Still, I have some questions about the story but with magic everything is possible.

This series is one I want to follow because someone recommend it to me. First, I found it a bit 'Charmed' but the story is totally different and with a magic dimension that is accesble through a portal

So lets watch it for a little bit longer and grieve with the characters and cheer them on.

WTF

I expected to watch 'Major Crimes' and 'Murder in the First' but it didn't happen because it didn't air. Bummer but luckily 'Switched at Birth'did. And I just put the new page online and it doesn't follow the schedule.

What happened? No idea.

New up

I just made some adjustment for the new page 'Week Schedule'. I also have it finally online. It ain't finished as you can see that Friday has been left open. I am looking forward to work on this page to make it easier to share my favorites shows.

I could use something else to make it look prettier but I prefer the simple look. I even consider using pictographs but that is just to much of a hassle and I want a uniformal look in this page.

What's needed to be done is linking the names to sites that allow streaming or downloading. I also want to check the schedule this week for new series. As Friday has been left open, I can't really find something fun to watch yet.

I am open for suggestions so send your recommendation list for Friday if you want.

What I have been up to

Wow, it's been awhile but it doesn't mean that I haven't thought about my media blog. I have written down the shows that I am currently following but never got the mood to something with it. It's typically postponing behavior.

On the other hand my other passion, minimalism blog had been great. Zero followers but enough audience.

Now I want tot announce something. This blog will be active again in the near future. Yes, with those written information I am positieve that this blog has enough time survive this month.

Quick update

It's been a while that I update this blog but today I found the time to finally get rid of three sticky notes still on my wall. First of all Breaking Bad that has ended a long time ago but was stuck on the side for a time like today. The Micheal J. Fox Show that ended and Two and a Half Man that I am not following anymore.

Today I cleared the whole schedule on my wall because the series on the wall are not airing and will after a month or two. Now there are just two on the wall, Major Crimes and Naruto. It's time to make a new one.

The Monuments Men

A super cast for this movie, while waiting in the cinema for the movie to start I still don't know what to expect. I am thrilled to see what will happen. I do expect it to be a bit dark because it's taken place in WWII. But it's about art so it can't be all dark, with guns and death laying around every corner.

It's a realistic movie but of course a bit romanticized for commercial purpose but I'll let that slip. Just go and watch the movie cause in comparison with Non-Stop, it's way more realistic.

Non-stop

I didn't have high hopes for this movie and I was right about it. It just didn't really make much sense. If you're also a logical thinker you wouldn't be so surprise that I found this movie unrealistic. So what about my other half who's capable of shutting down the logic. It was fun and the plot was okay but not fair.

The mystery in this movie is a killer on a plane. So I am constantly looking for one person. That one connection. But in the end it's not one person but a team. So try and figure it out. First thing I did is scrap every bad looking person or those who we stereotype as a bad guy.

My seat neighbor for instance was saying that the nypd cop is the killer, throughout the whole movie. He just couldn't because he doesn't has the brain for it and it would be to easy. The film in one sentence:
Non-stop is a okay movie for it has everything a teenage boy wants in a normal hero.

Why Korean series is easier to find than Cantonese

The explanation is easy: MONEY.

Lets go back in time before the internet. For a lot of teenagers it must be hard to think about a time without internet. When there wasn't internet there was no easy way for people to watch Asian series. Well there is and that's how the big money was made.

The most watched Cantonese series are from a television broadcast called TVB. They let people all over the world watch their series with a subscription. At the beginning they rented out VHS with their production and that's big money. Afterwards they switched to cable subscription which was also a success but there was something called internet that made its way and cut down the profitable for them.

Around 2002 when a lot of us had access to the web, we searched for our own pleasure and watched things we couldn't. TVB isn't really happy about that, cause less subscription means less money for them.

What about Korea, truth to be told Korean television broadcast has found a different way to make money. They search for sponsors and show their latest product on screen. They also mark away logo's who don't invest in their series. In the ending they show a row logo from companies that invested in the drama every time. Just right before the preview from the next episode and that's something that  America or HongKong could learn from.

Sponsors want the drama to be watched cause their products are used in the series. Korean broadcast company doesn't really mind about their intellectual property cause they make that up by finding sponsors. How that's reflected, you could watch the latest episode of any running Korean series online right after it is broadcast.

With HongKong series it's way more difficult cause they are still trying to make money oversees by selling subscriptions. So they value their intellectual property which they have all the rights to it. Except its way to expansive to apply for their subscription in this digital era.

In short that's why Cantonese series are difficult to find and Korean series not.

Hamatora The Animation

The funniest and greatest anime of this winter. An anime with a great story, although a bit predictable. The special power each one of them have is amazing. I wish that I could have one minimum too.

What I also love is the coffee grinder that the master use. Cause at home I have one too. Grinding beans using a manual grinder is so relaxing if you have the time. But the anime is really worth watching. It doesn't get bored.

There are times that the story is great but it needs a lot of episodes to walk through the story and sometimes when the pace isn't fast enough I lose interest. What I'll do then is writing the series down which were great and watch them when the season ended like Prince of Tennis.

If I didn't watched it when they were almost ending the series, I wouldn't have follow through. PoT has a lot of filler episode and the same goes for Bleach. I just couldn't wait every week for an episode of fighting. Even the ending of the anime Bleach is still unknown to me. I just lost interest cause it was making me so confused.

So back to Hamataro, it's getting interesting at episode 7 and I am curious to see what the next episode will bring. Before that I have to wait a whole week. There are several groups that translate this anime but I am a huge HorribleSubs supporter so the torrents are from this group.

This month's favorite songs

Every Friday it's become known which is the most downloaded song. Because I am never been a trend follower I only take a glance at it. What I find more special is the music we choose to listen at. There must be a reason why those tracks are the most played in your mp3/phone.

Perhaps you didn't know I like different genres. The mood I am in influence my music choice. So here are the top 3 song I played the most.

Shakira ft. Rihanna - Can't remember to forget you

Starting of with Shakira's song. It has been brought to my attention when my sister told me that the MV was really trashy while the song is okay. I totally agree with her. Great song, shit MV.

In the night sky is an old song that I've played multiple times just to have fun and run. An excellent choice of music when doing a workout. It's even catchier than Can't remember to forget you.

Jia-Jia's song is an insert song in a Taiwanese drama and I just love it. Great voice and the emotion goes through my body making me cry.

It doesn't matter that I don't understand all languages but the music and emotion in voices are capable to let me know the feeling of said song.

Short Anime

This season there are two short anime that caught my attention: Wooser no Sono Higurashi Kakusei-hen and Tonari no Seki-kun. The duration of both of these anime is less than 10 minutes. Both of them fall under the category: humor. To understand that you need a basic knowledge of the Japanese culture.

Wooser is running it's second season and is extremly short like less than 5 minutes. The opening of the second episode starts with a reference to Arpeggio of Blue Steel with Iona in it. This episode, like all their episode is a reflection of reality made in anime. Like making Wooser clicking the mouse pad constantly. (mocking the people behind their pc)

Tonari no Seki-kun duration exceeds Wooser and has a better, catchy ending song. It runs for about 8 minutes and the story is so simple but funny. Seki finds school very boring and find things to do at his desk, the girl next to him gets really pulled in his world.

So, if you have a little bit of time. Go and watch it in between the commercials.

Monday Watching List

Finally, the normal schedule is taking it's regular form again. Today, I watched the programs that run on Sunday night in the USA.

* The Good Wife
* The Mentalist
* Castle

Those are the only one that I've watched today. There are just so many things to see but the ones I like are those. It's a shame that some programs have ended like 'Once Upon a Time'. My torent progam automatically downloads those series because I have a RSS-feed that help.

So in the morning I turn on the PC and open the torent program. During breakfast I can watch in or even put it on my portable devices so I can watch it while being outdoors.

But today I was up very early and didn't want to wake other so I streamed on my device. I watched 'The Good Wife' in bed and the rest at breakfast.

Sherlock

It has already started, the third mini-series of the most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. Last week I didn't watched it live online. That the series will start this January was already old news. But tonight I will watch the live-stream on bbc.com with my Hola unblocker.

Yesterday, I looked up the airing time and tried if the Hola unblocker actually worked. Now, I am only waiting for the next episode. What I've been doing in between you can find out on my other blog Lifestyle about minimalism.

Though the American production, Elementary has been taming my hunger for detective series, it still doesn't beat the British production. For some reason, the way the English makes us wait and hunger the next episode fuels the emotion and I hunger for something more, something unexpected.

So there is still some time before the second episode airs and I think I will have diner soon and do the dishes right afterwards. I can then relax and sit behind my screen and follow it without worrying about the dishes.
